Framework analysis is a qualitative data analysis method developed by the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) and which up to recently had its own software package. With the release of NVivo version 9.1 last October came an announcement of a decision by NatCen to cease using their own software and work with QSR International, the NVivo developers to integrate their software into NVivo. Sine NVivo 9.1 (9.2 is the current release – a free upgrade for anyone using version 9). Framework analysis relies on the production of matrices to reduce and synthesise data as one part of the processes of analysing rich data sets. As NVivo already had a well-developed system for deploying matrices, it made perfect sense to marry the two packages together and develop a tool specific to this well recognised methodology.
If you have any questions about using this tool in NVivo, don’t hesitate to make contact through the forum or direct to support@qdatraining.euThere are plenty of free resources available on the web and of course our on-line training includes the use of ‘framework matrices’ in NVivo.
